STUDIO

studio_merelfeenstra_2025_NL.jpeg

During my stays in Spain and at home in the Netherlands, I collect impressions of everyday life: sunlight on a wall, flowers in bloom, a quiet street, or a bowl of fruit on a table. Back in my studio, these fleeting moments are transformed into paintings that celebrate light, colour and atmosphere.

Rather than capturing a specific place, my work aims to convey a feeling: the warmth of the sun, the stillness of a summer afternoon, or the quiet beauty found in ordinary things. My paintings invite the viewer to slow down and appreciate the simple moments that so often pass unnoticed.

Before returning to art in 2018, I spent more than 15 years building a career as a professional event manager, organising large scale events for clients including Shell, Rabobank and the Dutch Central Bank. In 2018, I returned to my creative roots and completed a four year education at the Classical Academy of Fine Arts in Groningen.

Today, I combine my work as an artist with selected event management projects. Alongside my collection of original artworks, I also create commissioned paintings, hand painted vases and host painting retreats in Spain.
